The Jeep is an iconic American vehicle, and every Jeep looks awesome and performs well right out of the factory. Having said that, there’s a tradition dating back to the Second World War of customizing Jeeps for both cosmetic and functional reasons. One common alteration is to use a Jeep JKU lift kit to raise it, and there are many benefits to this.
Benefits to Lifting a Jeep
People use a Jeep JKU lift kit, or other lift kit, for two basic reasons. The first is to simply make the vehicle look more rough and ready. Beyond the cosmetic, however, a complete lift improves off-road performance through raising the body, enhancing the suspension and adding off-road tires.
To start with, a lifted Jeep has a better departure angle when it’s being driven up steep terrain. This means that you can handle hills and slopes that you couldn’t handle in a conventional Jeep. Furthermore, improved suspension leads to softer, more cushioned landings, and this is not only a comfort issue for those inside the vehicle but a safety one as well.
Having off-road tires on a Jeep makes it less likely to tip. For all of the Jeep’s attributes, it has traditionally been susceptible to rolling over in bumpy terrain, and wide off-road tires reduce the chances of this happening.
Finally, a lifted, customized Jeep is an expression of the owner’s personality. When you lift your Jeep, you’re making a statement to the world that you take pride in your vehicle.
