Windows PC software Abrites VAG Commander is a vehicle diagnostics program that operates based on a simple interface, yet features several diagnostic protocols, and a wide range of code and associated meanings. Commander allows technicians, and extremely savvy car owners to understand what’s going on under the hood of an automotive machine if it’s in the VAG group of vehicles. After installing the platform onto the PC, the program will check for a proper connection between the car and the computer.
Interface Exploration
Once the program exits the splash screen and verifies the PC to vehicle connections, the main interface opens up to reveal a multitude of options under a select group of tabs. There are standard diagnostic functions and there are special functions: the standard set contains toggles for reading/clearing codes, adaptation, and device identification.
Configuration Changes
Hit the options button on the main screen of Abrites VAG Commander platform and see a section for used protocols, a set of parameters fit for standard requests. From here, it is also possible to adjust the Logging type, set CAN resistor values, set the language, and change the K-Line Baud Rate. Changes in the Options tab take effect after the program is restarted. Two K-Line rate thresholds are used in the diagnostic process. If the first one fails, then Commander will go on to try the second value.
